DiGeorge Syndrome

I found out in September 1999 that I was pregnant. It started with more visits to ultrasound my pregnancy that showed my baby had something wrong with his kidneys. That lead me to be in the high risk category at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa. I was told that I would be induce and my last visit for an ultrasound was from one room to the other with no answers to me or my husband.

My son, Alan, was born and as the hospital was doing an ultrasound on his kidneys, they found out that he only had one working and heard this heart beat, his heart had trouble too. He was moved to CHEO for a week after he was born. The doctors at The Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario were great. He had heart surgery at CHEO and all sorts of tests and appointments with different clinics that help us with his different problems. He is a wonderful, happy, cheerful boy, who has lots of questions about space, hockey, soccer and human body and I wouldn't trade him for anything.
