Ashley DOB: 04/07/99 Mosaic Ring 22 Mother Elizabeth I have a son called Ashley he was Diagnosed with Mosaic Abnormality with Ring Formation of Chromosome22 this was a big shock to us as we were not aware of any problems during my pregnancy. Ashley West was born in the UK on the 4th July 1999 we were not aware of Ashley's condition for 19 months but we new something was wrong. Ashley's symptoms include: Hypotonia, hypermobility of the joints (especially at his knees and feet) Recurrent ear infections, global developmental delay, high tolerance to pain, large head, hands and feet, speech delay, small umbilical hernia, and autistic features. Ashley was born at 37 weeks his birth weight was good I recall that Ashley was quite blue at the age of four hours but we were discharged from hospital on the following day. Ashley then developed respiratory symptoms which were thought to be due to a chest infection which was treated with oral antibiotics. My husband and I were first concerned about him at 3 months old as his head seemed to tilt to one side. He also had difficulty with head control. Ashley now attends a special needs school and is doing well. It is good to now my family are not alone. Elizabeth
