In 2004, the Centre
developed a social clubhouse atmosphere where youths with special needs
between the ages of 9 – 13, could meet for a few hours, one night a
week.
The program encourages
positive transition into community based programs that understands the
issues faced by youths with special needs.
The group promotes opportunities and experiences to develop
needed social skills through fun filled leisure and life skill
activities.
A newly renovated,
accessible kitchen at the Centre is available to the youths.
The youths enjoy special evenings such as “Bring a Friend/Sibling
night, “Midnight Madness” night and outings to the cinema.
The group is
organized by two Therapy Assistants under the supervision of the Social
Worker.
