REFERRALS

A referral can be received from any source provided the parents have consented to the referral or please telephone the Centre to make the referral. 

 

Processing the referral

The referral is sent to the next Centre Intake Meeting in order to ensure that the child meets the Centre’s mandate. 

If the referral is appropriate:

Under certain circumstances, the child could undergo a screening by a Centre Therapist, and parent could be given some therapy suggestions while the child is on the Centre wait list.

Or - The child could be referred to the Infant Preschool Clinic (see description under  clinics’ section of this website)

Or - The child could be placed directly on the Centre’s wait list.

If the referral is not appropriate:

The child will be redirected to an appropriate agency or service.

Once the child is accepted as an appropriate referral to the Centre, a letter is sent to the family acknowledging receipt of the referral and informing them that the child has been placed on the wait list.  The appropriate release of information forms are included with this letter.
