The
Cochrane Temiskaming Children’s Treatment Centre acknowledges the
Family’s and Child’s right to decide upon their care; hence the Family
Centered Care model is practiced at the Centre.
The relationships of Families and Children to Centre Staff Members
are based on trust. The
Families associated with the Centre come from diverse backgrounds and hold
a multitude of beliefs. The
mutual appreciation and respect of these differences provide opportunities
for learning and growth of everyone involved.
Staff
Members at the Centre believe in the importance of increasing their
knowledge and sharing it. This
process is seen to produce positive affects on the outcome of a child.
Staff Members acknowledge that pertinent education can come from
many sources including Families. The
Centre believes that the best outcomes occur when Children are seen as
early as possible and when there is strong collaboration with Families and
others working with the Children and their Families. The Centre also recognizes that there are some moments, more
than others in a Child’s life when Families need our expertise.
The Centre will ensure that we are available to Families at these
times. The
Centre recognizes that we are a part of a children’s Service System in
Timmins and in the Districts of Cochrane and Temiskaming.
Our agency, like others in the system, provides services to
Children with special needs. The
Centre will be a proactive partner in this system, ensuring that the
system becomes easily understandable and accessible to Families and that
it is suitable to Children’s needs.
Working relationships will be developed and maintained with
