TUNNEL LININGS - CRACK REPAIR AND LEAKAGE CONTROL

When railroad operations were interrupted during winters by accumulations of ice from leakage through cracks, K & C POWER HOUSE REPAIR was asked to recommend procedures and effect repairs. This type of cracking is usually caused by rock shifts aggravated by severe temperature drops following placement of the concrete. Based on years of experience, K & C POWER HOUSE REPAIR superintendent and crew drilled through the lining and pumped non-shrinking grout into the voids behind the concrete and from there into the cracks. This stabilized the rock, sealed off leakage and re-established the strength of the concrete lining.
