ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF USING THE FLEXIBILITY OF GROUTING - PREPLACED AGGREGATE

K & C POWER HOUSE REPAIR were contracted to build a 30 'x 16' x 14" thick reinforced concrete wall. The wall was to butt up against, two existing walls, the ceiling and floor to form a new stock chest for a paper mill. The job site was located in the basement and approximately 300 ft. from the exterior door on ground level. Due to limited access and the requirement for a water tight seal between old and new concrete, it was recommended by K & C POWER HOUSE REPAIR to grout preplaced aggregates. The existing concrete was roughed up and a 4" keyway was chipped out to provide a good bond between the existing and new concrete. Dowel pins were drilled and grouted in place, with reinforcing steel tied into the dowel pins. The formwork had to be built around a number of various size pipe inserts. After the placement of forms and aggregates, the wall was pumped with a non-shrink grout. The end result was void free, high strength concrete stock chest.
