HOST FAMILY PROGRAM

Volunteers are recruited and matched with a child with special
needs that is registered in
Extend-A-Family. The Host
family invites the child to share in their activities, which might include
a meal, shopping, movies, games, recreational outings, picnics, etc., on
an occasional basis. Host
families may be young couples with children,
grandparents, middle-aged couples, single adults and couples without
children. Warm, patient, and
caring people with a positive attitude towards a child with special needs,
and a desire to share some activities are qualities desired in a Host
family. Volunteers are
required to pass a screening process and be a minimum of 18 years of
age.
