Reports
a.
Commander. None of last years Graduates of the Boating Course have received
their memberships and some 2003 members also not included. This means
that these folks have not received a form to renew their membership. Bill
to pressure HQ for certificates to be presented at the AGM as well as
membership cards to be sent to these individuals. Andy considered this
a major blunder on HQ’s part as we have submitted the names. All
Bridge felt this was a serious and urgent matter.
b.
Finance. March is our year end and our financial statements have been
sent out for audit.
c.
Training. Francois Legault DTO has been sent our “numbers”
for the last quarter. We had nobody taking courses during this period.
See item #5 as well
d.
MAREP
e.
Port Captain. Although absent, Darry previously advised the Bridge that
he was moving this year from the New Liskeard to Haileybury Marina, but
would continue Port Captain duties in conjunction with Doug either as
Port Captain or as Deputy. Bill will ask Matt Duke if he would consider
being the Port Captain in New Liskeard.

PR
h.
Women On Water Course to take place Saturday July 9th. So far Temagami
Marine is only corporate sponsor and they will be brining an appropriately
sized, stable vessel with them for on water training. 24 is perhaps an
ideal number to train. As the water portion of the course took longer,
the trailer backing and general safety portion of the course may be scheduled
differently.
4.
Correspondence
RP
(Registered Provider) of the Boat-Pro Course. Moved by Alex, Seconded
by Lorne that Skip Connett of Canadian Venture Camp on Lake Temagami and
Vic Desjardins be approved as RP’s - Carried.
Connett buys his materials from Toronto and teaches his own staff boating
safety and we receive a $4.00 spin-off to TTPS
5.
Training Ideas
a.
Refresher course on Lake Temiskaming Chart still to be drafted. Perhaps
a fall project.
b.
GPS Course. Perhaps John Henderson of John’s Tackle Box could find
someone to teach such a course as there is a demand.
c.
TTPSS members to take Boat Safety Inspection training. It was hoped CCG
(Canadian Coast Guard) could provide training on the same day as the GPS
course. June 25th tentative date. Saturday to be how to do courtesy inspections
and Sunday on how to give safe boating presentations. Not much interest
in the Sunday venue by Bridge.
Ideally, inspections should be early morning and at the beginning of the
boating season. Because of certificate upgrading and training new people
we need to get at the inspections promptly after June 25th. Bill to ask
if CCG will bring inspection material with them so we don’t have
to wait until end of season for materials

Annual General Meeting
May
28, 2005 at the Haileybury Golf Club. Charge for the hall is $25.00/hour.
Muffy’s menu settled. Golf club to make the profit on the bar. It
was decided that no speaker is preferable to a poor one and if nobody
can be found to speak we will skip this item at the AGM.
Rate of $25.00/person. Invitation with accompanying boating dates and
news circulated, revised, and will be printed May 10.
7.
District Annual General Meeting 2006
May
13, 2006 is too early in the season for our area as ice may have just
gone out. Anne-Marie has found that there are not suitable facilities
available for May 27, 2006. Board felt that since we wish our TTPS to
put on a memorable weekend we need to have the right facilities and time
or not do it at all. .
This item on hold but at the moment it does not look like we will be hosting
this event.
8.
Power Point Projector Purchase
Bill
has approached Peter Wong who suggests that we not rent out a projector.
Bulbs are $400-500 each but do last 4000 hours if not abused. It is possible
that a previous user has no problems with the projector but packs it up
improperly resulting with the next renter liable for bulb replacement.
Wong suggests it is not necessary to pay more than $2000 as any high price
just brings more features which are not essential. 800x600 resolution
sufficient. On top of this a laptop would have to be purchased. We note
that HQ would pay for ½ of this from their “Foundation Fund”.
Lorne noted that Linda Cote from South Temiskaming Community Futures Development
Corporation has a projector available for free. Suggest we borrow STCFDC’s
until we see if there is high usage of a projector or not.
