June
16, 2006 Boating Safety Day:
A boating safety day was held on June 16, 2006. The planned
events were:
Courtesy boat inspections at both the New Liskeard and Haileybury
Marinas from 9:00 to noon. Bring your boat by land or water
and have our trained inspectors check out your safety equipment
- if you boat passes you get a sticker for the windshield
indicating you had the correct equipment and your boat was
safe to operate.
Women on Water - a hands-on training session for women only
to teach boat handling, trailering, backing-up with a trailer,
launching a boat and general safety.
A fire extinguisher demonstration at the New Liskeard waterfront
at 1:30 p.m. Bring your own extinguisher and learn how to
use it
Thanks
to all who helped with this very successful day.

Temiskaming 2006 Boating Season:
While
the weather this summer could of been better we still had
a very enjoyable boating season. The vastly improved docking
and campfire facilities at Burnt Island made that bay a
very busy social spot. Much thanks to Ghislaine, Denis,
Derry and all of the other boaters who worked so hard to
make this location what it is. Also many thanks to the owner
to allow us to use his property. Please respect this property
and keep it neat and clean as we are very fortunate to be
allowed to use this docking location.
Around
the numerous camp-fires we all munched on pork from the
pig-roasts, supplied and cooked by Matt and Carole Duke.
As
the nights turned cold unfortunately our boating came to
a halt for this 2006 season.
