Cross Stitch Needlework

Counting cross stitch is a very creative and enjoyable hobby. It is very simple to learn and can easily be carried anywhere. Cross stitch can be done from either a symbol printed chart or a coloured chart. It is very easy, with a computer, to make your own designs. I also use a program called Pattern Maker that lets you insert a scanned image over a grid and then the pattern can be printed out to be used as a chart to work from.

Below are just a very few pieces of my cross-stitch - Most of my work has been given away as gifts.

This is my first piece that I did at age 13.

My favorite piece. It is of King Tut and it is worked in gold thread. There is another full inch not shown on all four side of the needlework that is hidden in the frame. It is very hard and time consuming to work in gold thread as it ravels constantly.	A few years later I did this piece of Nefertiti - again using gold thread.

I did this piece for my husbands office and I knew that I had to get the eyes correct else it wouldn't look right. I named this "Yesterday friend, today food".	My husband used to fly so I made this for his office.





	In September, 2006 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Stage 3a. This is my survival "Mantra". The words were given to me by my doctor, Dr. P.J. Pace and these were the words that gave me the strength needed to fight the "Beast". He said that with my type of cancer One in Six survive - and I will be that One.

Below is a conversion chart between DMC floss and RGB colours. RGB values may be useful if you need to use the right colour in a graphics program and will result in the colours shown below.
