artist at work
One of my interests is looking at the artwork drawn to create paperdolls. It is an artform in it's own category. As a young girl I loved to draw clothes so it was natural that I started to collect paperdolls. Now as an adult, I have found myself returning to that artform thanks to the many fine folks online who have re-introduced me to it. The WEB abounds with paperdoll artists of all ages. Here are just a few examples from a very talented and creative paperdoll artist Sylvia Kleindinst (wonderful friend also): Sylvia and Valerie

Sylvia painted this picture and it is shown in two slides of a slide show: before the shading was added and after the shading was added. More of Sylvia's artwork below.
Here is a Victorian doll with some outfits.
This is a slide show of a 1920's Doll. The first slide is the doll, then an outfit, then the outfit on the doll.
This is a slide show of a Victorian entertainer.

The following link is a set shown at a web site of an example of how an idea found in the pages of Ladies Home Journal November 1909 was developed into a paper doll book by Sylvia Kleindinst.
