SHERRATT FAMILY HISTORY

Levi Sherratt - 1873 - 1946
Veteran World War I

Levi Sherratt Levi Sherratt was born in 1873 in Chesterton, Staffordshire, son of Levi Sherratt and Elizabeth Beatrice Williams. He married Rose Taylor May 30, 1904, Audley, St. James Church. They had one son, Leonard Sherratt in 1905.


In 1915, Levi joined the British Forces with the Royal Fusiliers at the age of 41. At this time I have not found Levi's service records however have located his medals, and medal cards seen below.


The medal card indicates Levi first saw battle in France in December of 1915. No other information is currently available about his life during the war. He did return from war, passing away in Talke Pitts, Audley, in 1946.

Deciphering Medal Card:

Theatre 1 is France, meaning the unit he started the war in went to was in France when he first set foot in a combat theatre. The Royal Fusiliers was his first unit, and he landed in France 8/12/1915.
