Cade DOB: 10/27/00 Cat Eye Syndrome Mom Kathryn My son Cade was born at full term, but there was something wrong with him that the doctors noticed immediately. Rushed to the NICU with water on the lungs and trouble breathing. He was released form the hospital without us knowing he would eventually go into congestive heart failure. We spent a month at one hospital trying to gain weight. The day after New Year's he had open heart surgery to fix the VSD, ASD, and PDA in his heart. Cade progressed in weight, but always seem to have delays in crawling, walking, and talking. Then my husband and I noticed he was always closing one eye in fairly bright light. All in all, a geneticist diagnosed him with the cat eye syndrome. He has a coloboma of the iris, small pits on the side of either ears and of course the delay of growth. He will be three in a month a and a half and is the weight of a one year old and the height of a two year old. He is a very happy child. Up to speed with other three year olds. No noticeable differences form other children mentally except he is very petite. He is a joy to our lives. On the contrary, I would like to know more about this cat eye syndrome. Kathryn |
