Jo-Ann and Clark Thompson

We are so pleased to have you visit with us and here is just a little
about ourselves.
We are the team of Clark and Jo-Ann Thompson and have lived
in Northern Ontario for 24 years, of which ten was spent in
Kirkland Lake and fourteen in beautiful Larder Lake.
Jo-Ann was born in Sudbury in 1949 and raised on a
farm near Victoria Harbour, Ontario. She worked at RCA
Company in Midland as a quality controller, and met
Clark in 1973, married him and moved north.
Jo-Ann has been on the Larder Lake Town Council for twelve
years of which for the past six years she has been the Reeve and is
currently running for her 5th term. Jo-Ann's interests revolve
around municipal politics and she sits on the Kirkland District
Community Business Centre as Secretary, Temiskaming Municipal
Association, Larder-McGarry Tourist Board and the Larder Lake
Planning Board. Her hobbies are reading, the computer, traveling,
meeting people, and talking with them. Jo-Ann is a seventeen-year
Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 293
Larder Lake. Jo-Ann has a brother William Rawson married to
Janet who lives in Victoria Harbour, Ontario.
Clark was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, in 1938 and is a
retired Civil Servant having worked for the Government
of Ontario, Ministry of Natural Resources, as a
Silviculture Technician for 32 years. He started work in Elk
Lake and Gowganda in 1957 as a Casual Fire Ranger and then
worked in Swastika until his retirement.
Looking for a means to keep active after retirement Clark decided
to help a friend research the history of Larder Lake and area,
which involves extensive work looking at old reports and newspaper
microfilms. To organize all this material, a computer purchase was
required and night classes taken to sharpen skills. Clark's hobbies
are gardening and traveling. Clark has one sister, Marlene married
to Peter Bakker and living in Owen Sound Ontario.
We are particularly interested in receiving any information, photos or
artifacts from anyone reading this. All contributions will be
documented and then returned to the owner. I would love to hear
from you so please e-mail us at crtja@ntl.sympatico.ca
