Englehart
Rivervalley Trail

Take a Walk on the Wild Side

The Town of Englehart invites you to an adventure in hiking!!
The trail wraps its way approximately 6 km along the steep valley slopes and banks of the  Englehart River, linking Englehart to Kap-Kig-Iwan Park. This trail takes about one and a half hours of walking to complete. Trail guides can be obtained from the sign/trail box at the start of the  trail.

Kap-Kig-Iwan

Vegetation

The vegetation is characteristic of a transition of the Boreal and the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence forest zones, including: black ash and white elm, birch, red and white pine. The park also has a variety of wildflowers, such as the Yellow Ladyslipper, considered rare.

Birdwatching and Nature

Bring along some binoculars to explore one of the three trails within the park, plus
the Rivervalley Trail leading from Englehart to Kap-Kig-Iwan. Hell's Gate, Sentinel Cedar and the
Upland Circle Trails each provide some great areas to look for wildlife and wildflower viewing.
There are some very photogenic sites along each trail.

Another common site in the park is the birdwatcher! The park is home to a wide range of birds
and the rarely observed Black-billed Cuckoo has been spotted in the park.
