Northeastern Ontario, Porcupine

The picture below was taken in the Kirkland Lake area, near the town of Virginiatown in northeastern Ontario. The Porcupine below is of the North American variety and is found in heavily wooded areas from Alaska to northern Mexico. It has hundreds of very sharp quills with a varying length of 5 to 15 cm (2 to 6 inches) and if another animal such as a dog is not careful these quills will cause quite a lot of pain.

We strive to be accurate as possible with this information but we are not infallible.

We are located in the Wildlife Management Unit 28 ( WMU 28 )
