The Virginiatown area of northeastern Ontario, located 40km east of Kirkland Lake and 260km from North Bay, northern Ontario is the Ultimate Snowmobiling Paradise. Whether you like to travel on a well groomed "A" trail or like to play in the "Virgin Snow". Excellent area for fishing of pike, bass, lake trout and walleye.
Unlike other areas of Ontario, which belong to the OFSC, (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) and TATA (Timiskaming Abitibi Trail Association) where you have to stick to their trails this is not a requirement in the Virginiatown area. Although we have a "A" Top Trail passing through town which is maintained by the Larder / McGarry Snowmobile Club and is part of TATA, you may also drive on the many other trails and streets in Virginiatown and Kearns area to get to the favorite watering holes, LCBO, food, gas etc. (Do not drive on the maintained sidewalks)
With many of the local snowmobiling residents from Virginiatown and Larder Lake creating and maintaining their own trails (literally hundreds of km) to their favorite fishing and hunting areas. This in turn brings many residents from: Kirkland Lake, North Bay, New Liskeard, Larder Lake, Toronto, Ottawa, Timmins, Sudbury, Quebec, United States, and many other places to numerous to mention, to the Ultimate Winter Paradise in northern and northeastern Ontario. TATA (Timiskaming Abitibi Trail Association) includes the communities of: Kirkland Lake, New Liskeard, Haileybury, Cobalt, Latchford, Dymond, Temagami, Elk Lake, Earlton, Larder Lake, Matachewan, Englehart, Gogama, Mattagami, Shining Tree, Charlton, Gowganda, Kearns and Virginiatown.
