FARRALLON NEGRO GOLD MINE, Catamarca Province, ARGENTINA, South America. ("Farrallon Negro" is pronounced "Farrah-john Nay-grow" & translates from Spanish as "black cliffs").
In 1996, Bill Glover travelled to Chile & Argentina to evaluate the Farrallon Negro operating gold mine & other exploration properties. The picture depicts the Farrallon Negro headframe & hoistroom at the 3,500 metre elevation in the Andes Mountains. Ore production for the mill came from the nearby La Blenda mine, accessed by adits & ramps. Higher grade ore entered the mill directly while the lower grade ore went to leach pads.
Travel to the mine was by commercial airliner from Buenos Aries to Tucuman, single engine chartered plane through the Andes to Santa Maria & by 4x4 to the minesite.
