Membership Conference Update- Toronto- Michelle & Yvonne
The conference was interesting.
Several ideas were presented to help districts to promote membership in RTO.
District reps present at the meeting will have ideas sent to them from the Provincial Office to see which ones are appropriate for their region .
Yvonne also found out that anyone working in a school, university etc. can become a member of RTO- they are "ESSR" - "Education Support Staff Retirees" -they don't show on membership list-we will get a separate list in a few months.
Yvonne will contact Affiliate Presidents to go through them to distribute RTO retirement kits to each potential retiree.
7- Correspondence-
a) Report from Provincial Communications Committee re: placing limited amount of advertisement on website would not be considered endorsement by RTO -they want feedback regarding type of advertising etc.
The Executive indicated that we prefer none, but everyone's opinions are so diverse, we could not come to a consensus , so we will leave it up to Provincial Office.
Discussion re: some information on the site being made available to non-members:
District 5 Executive does not feel that opening the site to non-members would benefit recruitment to appreciable degree. Yvonne will get back to them on the subject.
