Welcome to David Duchesne's Home Page

David Duchesne learned to read in Grade One but only read what he had to until he hit 40 when he began, in earnest, to read for enjoyment. At this same time he began writing things he like to read. He has written for magazines and has published one children's book, The Train That Came To Stay. In 1995 he was commissioned to write the English portion of the Town of Kapuskasing's 75th Anniversary Book. Since November 1997 David has written a column for the weekly newspaper, Le/The Weekender.

After 35 years as a teacher, Principal, Superintendent and Director of Education, David retired to pursue other activities in addition to his writing. Since retiring on January 1, 1996, he has continued to play in a community band, teach and coach curling to children and adults. He even managed to squeeze in two courses in first year law from Laurentian University.

When he's not writing, curling, golfing or fishing he is busy helping to raise three active sons. Two adult daughters also bring him a great deal of joy.

David is a member of the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators, and Performers (CANSCAIP)
