License Requirements

Private Pilot Licence:

Minimum requirements:

  1. Can be 16 years of age to start:
  2. Must be 17 years of age to obtain a Licence:
  3. Shall have to produce a birth certificate:
  4. Require a category 3 Medical:
  5. Require 40 hours of ground school, signed off in a Pilot Training record.
  6. Require 45 hours total flight training logged in the Pilot Training record comprised of at least:

    i)    17 hours dual:
          3 hours cross-country flight:
          5 hours of instrument flight training:
          9 hours of general flight training:

    ii)   12 hours of solo flight
             5 hours of cross country which shall be at least 150 nm. with two stops             enroute:
             7 hours of solo practice:

    iii)    The balance of the 45 hours total time shall be made up of dual or solo          flight time as required.

    iv)    The written and flight tests must be completed within 12 months of each          other.
     


Instructor Rating

Instructor Requirements:

  1. A valid commercial license:
  2. 25 hours ground school (minimum time.)
  3. 30 hours of dual instruction

This is not a difficult course but it does require a steady commitment and workload.

 

Night Endorsement:

Minimum requirements:

  1. Private Pilot Licence required:
  2. 20 hours total flight training comprised of the following:

    i)    10 hours instrument flight training:
    ii)   10 hours night training comprised  of the following:
           5 hours dual including 2 hours of  dual cross-country:
          -5 hours solo flight including 10 take-offs and landings.

Commercial Pilot License:  

Minimum requirements:

  1. Applicant must be 18 years of age:

  2. Valid Private Pilot License:

  3. Category 1 Medical:

  4. 40 hours of ground school, signed off in Pilot Training Record for Commercial Pilot:

  5. 65 hours of flight training for Commercial Pilot comprised of the following

    i)   20 Hours instrument training:
    ii)   8 hours of advance flight training including 5 yours of cross country:
    iii)   5 hours of solo flight training including 2 hours of cross-country:
    iv)   30 hours of solo flight training including:
    25 hours solo for skills improvement including a cross- country flight with a 300 nm. radius from point of departure with 3 landings at other than point of departure:
    5 hours of solo night flight including at least 10 take-offs and landings:

  6. Applicant shall have acquired 200 hours total flight time.

  7. Applicant shall have acquired 100 hours of Pilot in Command flight time, including 20 hours of cross-country flight.


Instrument Rating:

  1. Private License or higher:

  2. Applicant shall have acquired at least 150 hours of pilot in command time:

  3. 30 hours dual instrument training must be completed before attempting the written examination:

  4. 40 hours total dual instrument flight training required.
